International Medical Corps (IMC) was established in 1984 by volunteer doctors and nurses, International Medical Corps is a private, voluntary, nonpolitical, nonsectarian organization. Its mission is to improve the quality of life through health interventions and related activities that build local capacity in underserved communities worldwide. By offering training and health care to local populations and medical assistance to people at highest risk, and with the flexibility to respond rapidly to emergency situations, International Medical Corps rehabilitates devastated health care systems and helps bring them back to self-reliance.

International Medical Corps (IMC) is initiating services in northern Nigeria to support vulnerable populations recently affected by conflict and displacement, thus IMC is currently recruiting to fill the following position:
 
Position: GBV Program Consultant

Location: Nigeria.

Job Description:
The GBV Program Consultant will provide technical leadership to the start-up of a GBV prevention and response program supporting affected communities in North-East Nigeria. The GBV prevention and response program will be implemented in coordination with local partners and the State Ministry of Women Affairs
 
Duties/Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation.
Coordination:
Work closely with International Medical Corps' local partner to plan activities
Coordinate with relevant government authorities and international, national and local organizations  
Coordinate with other sectors as possible to ensure integration of GBV concerns into various services
 Program Planning:
Conduct further assessment of the local partner and health sector capacity to identify gaps and areas for  improvement
Work with local partner to plan GBV intervention  
Conduct situational analysis in new areas of intervention to determine the feasibility of particular approaches and interventions
Identify locations to establish safe spaces for women and girls, where possible.  
Lead the implementation of regular safety audits and share results with partners.
Contribute to concepts or proposals as requested
Implementation and Capacity Development:
Develop a capacity building plan for the local partner and the health sector
Support local partner to build a project team and initiate services as planned
Train partner staff and volunteers in technical areas, including individual and group psychosocial support services
Establish referral procedures between International Medical Corps supported services and external services
Establish safe information sharing procedures
Organize and co-facilitate trainings for healthcare providers in clinical management of rape
Organize and facilitate GBV mainstreaming trainings for other sector actors
Compile monthly and quarterly reports, on time and with accurate data
Maintain flexibility to take on added responsibility as and when needed
Human Resources:
Recruit national staff and support the recruitment of partner staff
Train and orient project staff and volunteers to their roles
Develop support strategies for staff and introduce principles of self-care
Financial Management:
Develop workplans in line with financial pipelines
Coordinate with local partner to submit financial reports
Security and Conduct:
Ensure compliance with security protocols and policies  
Consider security implications of all program activities, in consultation with partner organizations
Contribute to the positive image and overall credibility of the organization, notably through the application of the organization’s Code of Conduct and Ethics.
 
Qualifications/Requirements:
Masters degree in Social Work, Public Health, International Development or other relevant field of study
Three years experience in GBV program design and implementation, including at least one year of international, humanitarian experience  
Past experience with GBV case management and psychosocial support services
Experience working with national partners
Remote management experience preferred
Supervisory experience preferred
Relevant regional experience preferred
Familiarity with standards and guidelines for GBV programming and coordination as well as guidance on protection from SEA
Familiarity with international humanitarian operations and coordination structures
Ability to exercise sound judgment, to remain flexible to a changing environment, and to make decisions independently
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
Capacity to work and live in insecure areas with a volatile and quickly changing security environment
Language Skills:  
Ability to read, write, analyze and interpret technical information in the English language.  
Ability to effectively present information and respond appropriately to questions from management, technical advisors, and counterparts

While performing duties of the job, the employee frequently works in precarious and remote places. Regularly work in outdoor, extreme weather conditions
