The French Section of Médecins Sans Frontières is currently recruiting for its project in Maiduguri, Borno State - Nigeria to fill the following positions::

Position 1: Nuses Aid

Work Location:
MSF Maiduguri project – Bollori2 clinic/ Maimusari clinic – NIGERIA

Contract:
Local contract (2 months with possibility of extension)
208 working hours per month and roster flexibility required.

Job Description:
Assist in nursing activities with hospitalised patients, according to nurses and doctors prescriptions, protocols applied in service and universal hygiene standards, in order to ensure delivering a comfort care and a proper management of patients’ basic needs.
Assist the nurse in organizing and providing care and treatments to patients, respecting the rules of hygiene, safety, comfort, dignity, medical secret, at all times.
Ensure cleanliness of his/her working environment (including facilities, material, linen, equipment, and carrying out the sorting and disposal of waste)
Compensate patients possible lack of autonomy by assisting and helping them in feeding, personal hygiene, movements and general comfort.
Participate in the surveillance and monitoring of the patient and report to the nurse of any relevant information.
Give response to nurse’s requirements in case of an emergency.
Participate in the basic health education sessions.
Participate in the monitoring of nursing activities (correctly fill in patient files, etc.) and ensure a relevant transfer of information between duty teams.
Report any problem arising in the care unit, especially the loss, robbery or damage of equipment or medicines.
Work together with the nurses, cleaners and care-takers.
Participate actively in the hospital platform (meetings, committee,.) and trainings
Participate in any other related activities as requested by the line manager

Qualifications/Requirements:
Experience as auxiliary nurse is required
Diploma of CHEW or EHO is desirable
Fluency in spoken English and Hausa language

Position 2: Registered Midwives

Work Location:
MSF Maiduguri project – Maimusari clinic/ Bollori2 clinic – NIGERIA

Contract:
Local contract (3 months, possibility of extension)
208 working hours per month and roster flexibility required.

Job Description:
Provide obstetrical care to pregnant women and their babies, doing follow up before, during and after delivery, according to MSF obstetrical and reproductive health protocols, universal hygienic and newborn caring standards and under supervision of a specialist doctor, in order to ensure their health conditions and avoid post-delivery complications.
Ensure the implementation and continuity of antenatal and postnatal care, family planning, obstetrical care, neonatal and comprehensive abortion care, management of victims of sexual violence, reproductive tract infections and Fistula care in accordance with MSF Reproductive Core Package of Activities and reinforce the implementation of standardised protocols.
Collaborate with the medical doctor and /or nurse in the management of Sexual Violence cases
Ensure hygiene and sterilization criteria (including universal precautions) are met according to MSF specifications.
Guarantee a regular and ongoing supply of drugs and equipment required for maternity activities (including monitoring/consumption control/ordering of orders.
Properly follow up all newborn babies from delivery until discharge, informing mothers and relatives about importance of breast feeding, vaccination and possible complications resulting from harmful traditional practices.
Ensure patients right to privacy and confidentiality is respected
Supervise that administrative procedures of admissions and hospitalizations comply with MSF protocols , as well as verify patients are properly informed and receive the documents required (birth certificate, vaccination card, etc
Participate in the organisation of the ward in collaboration with other midwifes and the maternity ward supervisor. Ensure transfer of relevant information to the next shift team (specially identifying risk cases)

Qualifications/Requirements:
Essential recognized midwife degree
Desirable 2 years of previous experience and previous experience in other NGO’s
Fluency in spoken and written English and Hausa language
High level of motivation and ability to learn

Position 3: Registered Nurses

Job Description:
Provide nursing care, treatment and follow-up of patients, according to doctors’ prescriptions, protocols applied in service and universal hygiene standards/precautions, in order to ensure the quality and continuity of care for the targeted population.
Know, promote, implement and follow at all times the universal hygiene standards/ precautions, bio-hazard prevention and infection control, security rules and other protocols and procedures in the medical premises and ensure high standards of hygiene of his/her working environment .
Organize and carry out care and treatments according to medical prescriptions, as well as assist them during consultations/ daily rounds and other medical procedures.
Ensure patients are properly received and installed in the health service. Ensures that patients with lack of autonomy are assisted, especially regarding their feeding, personal hygiene, movements and comfort.
Respect medical secret and confidentiality
Carry-out admission, surveillance and follow-up of patients meaning assessment of their health state evolution, and identification of emergency situation or any deterioration,
Participate in the department-related pharmacy and medical equipment control and maintenance (carrying out inventories, carrying out stock takes of medicines and material at every team changeover, ensuring no material is taken out of nursing area/wards without prior authorisation, checking its quality and its functioning, storage conditions, doing follow-up of expired drugs, etc.).
Carry-out and supervise administrative procedures and documents (fill in patients files, forms, consumptions, statistics, etc.), ensure an appropriate written/oral handover, and report any problematic situations and cases that may arise. fill in all necessary registers and health files, participate in data collection and keep doctors/supervisors informed.
Report any problem arising in the care unit, especially the loss, robbery or damage of equipment or medicines.
Work together with the nurses, cleaners and care-takers.
