Sustainable Healthcare International (SHI) Foundation has been a partner with the National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP) for over five years sharing in its vision for a malaria-free Nigeria and its goal to reduce the malaria burden to pre-elimination levels and bringing malaria-related mortality to zero. SHI is currently a Sub-Recipient to the Global Fund Malaria New Funding Model for core Programme implementation and Social Mobilization activities in the High Burden (HB) Northern States of Nigeria.
 
Sustainable Healthcare International (SHI) is currently recruiting to fill the following positions:
 
Position 1: Advocacy, Communication & Social Mobilization Officer (ACSM)
 
Location: Abuja, Nigeria.
 
Job Description:
To participate and provide technical assistance in the planning and implementation of activities in public health, programming and community based activities.
Develop, monitor and review resource mobilization strategies for sustaining the organizations programs in line with the strategic objectives.
Provide administrative support to the Programme Management Unit(PMU) in projects as well as the Advocacy Communication and Social Mobilization Unit(ACSM).
 
Duties/Responsibilities:
Be part of the team to develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders in government, international partners, donors and NGOs, and ensure maximum coordination of resources and effort.
Take part in the preparation and monitoring of the budget and other finance related activities
Help identify new opportunities and good practice both externally and from within.
Sourcing for grant announcements and developing suitable proposals.
Identify donors and areas for possible investment.
Develop and implement a fundraising strategy and plan, in line with the strategic objectives of the organization.
Develop and maintain relations with potential donors including local funding agencies, corporate sectors, and international donors in line with donor requirements.
Report writing and report evaluation.
Monitor the implementation of funded projects by liaising with the responsible departments to ensure quality and informed reporting to donors on a timely basis in line with the contractual donor obligations.
Follow-up project proposals submitted to donors and keep proper record of all correspondences in line with organizational requirements.
Maintain database for all grant publications.
Liaise and maintain correspondence with relevant units/ program teams for better program coordination
Work directly with STOs at the state level to deliver grant objectives
Report or investigate concerns on program implementation
Perform research on a regular basis to aid program implementation
Report program status by keeping program plans up to date
Schedule training events and prepare corresponding materials
Occasionally attend and represent SHI at Rollback malaria partners coordination meetings and workshops
Identify gaps and challenges in the reports submitted by field staff and make recommendation for appropriate action
Prepare program presentations
Maintain program databases
Train; supervise other staff members to perform work activities as assigned.
Prepare periodic reports as required by the program
Administrative support
Process and prepare documents such as fund request and expense reports.
Prepare meeting agendas, attend meetings, record and transcribe minutes
Maintain and update inventory, mailing, and database systems
Open, sort and route incoming mail, answer correspondence, and prepare outgoing mail
Organize materials.
 
Qualifications/Requirements:
Candidates must have a Medical degree or Bachelors degree in Health Sciences or other related discipline and a post graduate qualification in Public health or other related discipline.
S/he must have a minimum of three years work experience in public health; particularly in malaria programs or any other programs in the other disease areas.
Five years minimum experience is required for candidates without a post graduate degree.
 
Position 2: Monitoring & Evaluation Officer (M&E)
 
Location: Sokoto state - Nigeria.
 
Job Description:
The State M&E Officer will support the M&E Manager in all data collection, analysis and learning activities to help ensure accountability and efficiency from start to finish for the NFM project.
 
Duties/Responsibilities:
Provide leadership to the state office and field level M&E program and provide overall guidance on program/project monitoring and evaluation;
Manage the state offices reporting cycle to ensure high quality and complete datasets are sent to the national office on a periodic basis, or when required.
Work with local partners to develop their project monitoring and evaluation plans and support the correct implementation and use of routine data collection tools.
Conduct monthly routine monitoring visits to project sites and provide supportive supervision.
On a monthly basis, ensure that high quality analyzed facility-level data is disseminated to relevant staff at facilities and decision-makers. Ensure that data is used to highlight important programmatic gaps and coordinate with facility management and other departments in addressing these gaps;
Coordinate regular data quality assessments, undertaken in a participatory manner, with facility staff and ensure the completeness, consistency and validity of routine data.
Ensure that the quality of program/project Monitoring and Enhanced Evaluation in the sites is of international standard and quality by supporting the development and implementation of appropriate mechanisms to ensure quality;
Provide direct technical assistance and capacity building in the design and implementation of the program/project Monitoring and Enhanced Evaluation components of the activities in the communities served;
Build capacity of local partners in project monitoring and with program staff and local partners, use program/project monitoring data to modify existing programs and design new programs;
Provide technical support in evaluation research (including sampling strategies, analysis and presentation of data) to the local research groups working on the grant;
Participate in project assessments, evaluations and design teams;
Document lessons learned and best practices in monitoring and evaluation, according to standard guidelines;
Represent SHI and makes presentations at professional meetings and conferences related to Monitoring and Evaluation research;
Remain informed of current issues regarding Monitoring and Evaluation of programs in the malaria field by review of current literature; is alert to any implication of such research for project and program activities;
Help ensure that the quality of program/project activities adheres to SOPs by supporting the development and implementation of appropriate mechanisms to ensure quality of all Global Health program interventions;
Provide technical assistance to M&E officers of SMEP, LGA, and MFPs in integrating malaria data into the national DHIS 2 platform.
Coordinate the implementation of State-based activities on malaria prevention including LLIN distribution, use and monitoring;
Provide support for malaria case management (diagnosis and treatment) within the state including support for LMIS;
Provide technical support to states to improve intermittent preventive therapy for pregnant women;
Provide technical support for capacity building on malaria technical areas including training of personnel at the state ministry of health and other facilities;
Provide technical expertise at the state level to the SMEP as it relates to all issues on capacity building for the Management of malaria control;
Implement Severe Malaria management in selected secondary health facilities;
Plan and Supervise general activities as it relates to the Grant at the state level
Prepare periodic activity reports (weekly, monthly , quarterly);
Supervise NMEP 3PL on Last mile distribution of anti malaria commodities;
Perform any other duty as may be assigned.
 
Qualifications/Requirements:

Position 3: State Technical Officer (STO)
 
Location: Kebbi state - Nigeria.
 
Job Description:
The STO will be responsible for social, advocacy and communications tor the Global Fund project, working in dose collaboration with State Malaria Elimination Program (SMEP), LGA health service providers, Community Resource persons and other project team members.
 
Qualifications/Requirements:
Candidates must have a Medical degree or Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences or other related discipline and a post graduate qualification in Public health or other related discipline.
S/he must have a minimum of three years' work experience in public health, particularly in malaria programs Or any other programs in the other disease Areas. Five years minimum experience required for candidates Without a post graduate degree.
Candidates applying tor the M&E position must have knowledge of MS Excel and DHIS software.
