Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has underwent a successful operation to remove his appendix.
The former Borussia Dortmund boss, fell ill on Friday night and club doctor, Andy Massey, diagnosed the problem on Saturday before the German was taken to Aintree Hospital.
Klopp had surgery around 1.30pm and was later informed of Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Sunderland which he missed.
In his absence, his assistants Zeljko Buvac and Peter Krawietz, first-team development coach Pepijn Lijnders and goalkeeping coach John Achterberg, took charge of the squad.
The Reds will take on West Ham in an FA Cup fourth round replay on Tuesday, but it is not certain if Klopp will be back in the dugout by then.
