Operatives of Edo state police command have apprehended a 62-year-old woman who posed as a medical doctor to defraud unsuspecting childless women.
A police source said the suspect, identified as Celina Etomi, had told her victims that she worked for a British-owned hospital based in Ondo state.
She was said to have swindled four childless women to the tune of N7.831 million.
The suspect allegedly collected the money from the victims with a promise to make them have twins through In- Vitro Fertilisation (IVF).
The fake doctor was said to have asked the victims to name the number and sex of children they want and some of the victims mentioned twin, triplets and quadruplets.
It was gathered that the suspect in addition collected N900, 000 from a family to treat their sight impaired and malignant brain tumoured daughter.
The Police said the victims however reported the incident after they discovered that they were not responding to treatment.
It was learnt that the suspect was afterwards nabbed at her hideout around Saint Saviour Street in Benin City, the state capital.
