Quack nurse arrested over the death of a nursing mother on HWN GOSSIPS

Ondo State Police Command has arrested and detained a quack nurse (names withheld) over the death of a nursing mother, identified as Ayo.

The deceased reportedly died in a private hospital at Bamikemo village in Ile Oluji/Oke Igbo Local Government Area of the state, shortly after she had delivered a set of twins at the hospital.

A source said the deceased approached the suspect when she was about to deliver because she worked as a nurse at the hospital but allegedly without any professional qualification.

It was gathered that the deceased delivered the babies successfully but after a short time she became unconscious and the suspect could not rescue her. She gave up the ghost shortly after.

Not satisfied with the development, the source said It was the family of the deceased that reported the case at the police station in the area after suspecting a foul play in the delivery process of the babies, which was allegedly carried out by the suspect.

Corpse of the deceased was said to have been deposited at the State General Hospital, Ile Oluji.

Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Femi Joseph, confirmed the incident, saying the deceased died as a result of complication that arose after she has delivered her babies.

When the woman was about putting to bed, the nurse offered to take the delivery, knowing fully well that she does not have the professional qualification to do that and in the process of doing that, complications arose, which led to the death of that woman. That is why we arrested the nurse,” Joseph narrated.

He noted that the case was being handled by the State Criminal Investigative Department, while further investigation had commenced on the matter.
