The 32 year-old woman who was airlifted to Nairobi from Wajir after she was allegedly stabbed several times by her husband has been successfully operated on at the Kenyatta National Hospital.
KNH Chief Executive Officer Lily Koros told Capital FM News that the surgery was done on Fatuma Ibrahim at about midnight to remove a knife lodged in her cheek after the attack.
Koros assured that Fatuma is currently recuperating following the operation. "I was with her until midnight when the operation was done," she stated.
According to police in Wajir, Fatuma, a mother of four was stabbed following a domestic quarrel with her husband who has already been arrested.
Following the incident, AMREF dispatched a plane to airlift Fatuma who was admitted to the Wajir District Hospital to Nairobi for emergency treatment.
The AMREF Flying Doctors team took Fatuma to KNH where she underwent an operation to remove the knife.
