The Nasarawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency, is to fish out ghost workers in the sector in order to ensure effective quality health care service delivery.

The Executive Chairman of the Agency, Dr Mohammed Usman-Adis, made this disclosure on Monday at a four-day workshop in Akwanga.

The workshop was organised by the agency for the state’s Local Government health directors and other stakeholders in Akwanga Local Government Area of the state.

He said in spite of the retirement and death of some workers of the agency, the monthly wage bill of the agency remained static, describing the situation as unacceptable.

To this end, Usman-Adis stressed the need for the agency to fish out ghost workers in the agency.

The aim of the workshop is to equip you with knowledge on how to tackle emerging challenges in the health sector, especially in immunisation, nutrition, family planning, ante-natal services among others.

The workshop is also to develop a blueprint aimed at boosting health care service delivery at the grassroots in line with global best practices.

That is why, we have the new framework tagged: Nasarawa State Local Government Health Development Plan 2017,” he said.

According to him, this is to spell out clearly, the state’s line of activities from January to December, 2017 for the benefit of our people and other Nigerians.

The state’s Plan 2017 will be strictly implemented by the various health departments in the the 13 Local Government Areas and 18 Development Areas of the state, he said.

According to him, some workers of the agency are dying, some are retiring but the agency’s wage bill is static and this will not be allowed to continue, we must know the reason behind it.

He said that the health challenges of the people could be tackled if health practitioners adhere strictly to the ethics of their profession and avoid sharp practices.

Usman-Adis also advised health personnel to always give accurate reports and figures of the happenings in their clinics to the appropriate authorities so as not to mislead the government.

The Executive Director directed health directors in the areas affected by communal crisis to compile the list of the affected facilities to the agency for necessary action.

He added that the State Government had been working hard to address the challenges facing the health sector.
