Caritas Nigeria (CN) was established in September 2010 by the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), as a specialized national development agency with a mandate for overall coordination of development programs for the Catholic Church in Nigeria. Although independently registered, Caritas Nigeria is an arm of the Church and Society Department of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN). Caritas Nigeria also provided care, treatment and support to over 39,921 patients in ten service delivery health facilities under the CHARIS program which was supported by the United States of America through the Centre for Disease Control and prevention (CDC).

Position 1: Nursing Services Specialist

Job Description:
Provide on-site hands-on mentorship for facility Nursing staff and other Health care workers across program areas in HIV care and treatment with direct patient nursing care at site level.
Carry out Nursing related needs assessment both technical and programmatic at facilities and offer solutions in line with CCFN organizational goals and objectives.
Build and maintain current HIV/AIDS knowledge of nurses and other health care workers to improve patient’s standard of care at the treatment facilities through organization of regular didactic sessions, mortality reviews, case reviews etc.
Ensure integration of prevention of MTCT services into all ante natal care services and effective mentoring and supervision of health care workers at newly activated PMTCT sites.
Build capacity of facility nurses to take on new roles such as task shifting of ART refill for stable patients
Strengthen facility based patient health education curriculum.
Follow up on implementation, monitoring and evaluation of continuous quality improvement strategies.
Participate in all desk time related activities including making presentations, journaling, organizational research and abstract writing.
Ensure participation in national Nursing and Midwifery Council Programs and activities.
Participate in the activities of national technical working group of designated program areas and other stakeholder meetings.
Working closely with the community services team, build capacity of community based health workers to provide community based care.
Qualifications/Requirements:
A Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing plus 4 years’ working experience in HIV care and treatment.
Experience in Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission, nutrition care and support and demonstrable technical training capacity.
Experience in mentoring RN’s or other Community Healthcare Workers.
Experience in using Microsoft Office suite for word processing, presentations, publication and spreadsheet management.
Working with diverse populations and communities.
Experience in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with healthcare workers, community members, colleagues and supervisors.
Evidence of effective written and verbal communication; attention to detail, organizational and problem solving skills.
Position 2: Continuous Quality Improvement Associate

Job Description:
Provide capacity building and mentoring to supported health facilities to form continuous quality improvement teams and initiatives, through routine technical assistance.
Assist supported facilities in developing continuous quality improvement projects and implementing the small test of change (STOC) through performance measures of quality of care indicators.
Support an ongoing documentation systems that demonstrates progress towards quality improvement in ART delivery by target sites.
Implement and support the ongoing quality of care process targeted at data collected from GON registers by sites and improvement initiatives.
Provide sites with training on site level Continuous Quality Improvement and how to use patient and program data to inform and improve care and treatment services and develop Regional Quality Committees to foster site to site sharing of findings and successful improvement strategies
Conduct annual patient level outcome activities (blood collection for viral load, adherence survey and Chart reviews).
Provide trainings to CCFN Clinical staff on all continuous quality improvement initiatives, program and patient level evaluation.
Coordinate all evaluation activities across facilities: Biannual comprehensive clinical assessment of sites, program area reviews and evaluation of specific issues such as mortality and lost to follow up.
Coordinate Patient Level Outcomes activities across selected facilities
Other Duties:
Develop and routinely update all quality improvement processes, standard operating procedures and documents.
Review and validation of the quality improvement segments and other aspects of protocols for other units within the organization.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Degree in Medicine, Nursing, or other related field with over four years’ experience in HIV care and treatment in similar positions or as CQI Focal Officer.
Knowledge of operations research is an added advantage
Strong organizational, time management, computer and communicative skills
Team building skills to strengthen and cultivate relationships.
Possess strategic and analytical skills with an ability to solve problems and make decisions.
Capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities and can work effectively under pressure.
