International Council of Nurses is currently recruiting to fill the following position:

Position: Nursing and Health Policy Consultant, Socio Economic Welfare.

Workplace location
The post is based and operates from Geneva and the successful candidate will have to relocate to Switzerland.

Description:
Faced with the global shortage of employed nurses and the increasing globallabour market for nurses, undertake specific responsibility for developing programme areas related to socio-economic welfare, occupational health and safety, positive practice environments, human resources development, violence, international migration. Manage the Leadership in Negotiation project, direct the International Centre for Human Resources in Nursing and support programmes of the International Centre on Nurse Migration.
 
Additional duties and special projects include other areas of professional practice (e.g. care of the older person, disaster preparedness, environment, refugees) as agreed with the Chief Executive.
 
As part of a small dynamic team the Consultant is expected to actively participate in the development, planning, implementation and evaluation of the total ICN programme, including fundraising, information and marketing, networking and promoting ICN’s goals.
 
This position provides opportunities to work internationally in a wide range of socioeconomic and cultural contexts, advance the labour agenda of nurses, create effective bi-lateral and multi-lateral partnerships, develop nurses’ communication and negotiation skills, inform and influence public policymaking, and promote positive collaborative relationships with other health sector stakeholders.
 
Qualifications/Requirements:
The post requires being a Registered Nurse as well as current membership in a national nurses association in membership with ICN and relevant university degrees to at least master’s level.
 
The candidate should have work experience in the areas of labour relations and human resources development as well as proven experience working effectively with people of other cultures. Experience and established credibility at top level in nursing practice, education and policy would be an asset as well as management and programme design experience.
 
Fluency in English is required, and preference will be given to those with a working knowledge of French or Spanish.
The candidate is expected to be self-motivated, have strong leadership skills, be able to work independently, in a team, and with people of various cultural backgrounds and be able to work to deadlines and produce quality outputs within tight time frames
 
Other attributes include the ability to bring analytical, critical and creative thinking to the work; flexibility and openness to new ideas and ways to achieve goals; the ability to use computer and telecommunication technology for work purposes; nd effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
