The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Hospital established in the terror-prone Borno State has commenced operations.
It is providing adequate medical care for Internally Displaced Persons
(IDPs) in the North East.
The facility was recently established in Dalori Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Maiduguri.
According to the Defense Headquarters it is humanitarian effort aimed at caring for the less privileged and IDPs.
The Hospital would not only cater for the healthcare needs of the IDPs, but also alleviate the sufferings of victims of terrorism in North Eastern Nigeria,” the Defense Headquarters said in Abuja.
The 50-bed hospital by United Nations (UN) standard has an Operating Theatre, a Radio Diagnostic Unit, Dental unit, Laboratory, Accident and Emergency Units, Out-Patient and In-Patient facilities for at least 36 patients and a pediatric section.
The fully-fledged NAF Hospital is also equipped with facilities for in-patient catering, information and records, central sterile supply unit, maternity section and a pharmaceutical section.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar, during his maiden visit to the Dalori IDPs camp on assumption of duty earlier this year, promised to establish a standard hospital to cater for the health care of IDPs and victims of terrorism in the Northeast.
Some 13 000 people have died and scores more injured during the terrorism in the region.
