Authorities in Lagos State have confirmed three new cases of the widely spreading Lassa fever.
Lagos state Commissioner for Health, Jide Idris revealed this at a press briefing in Abuja.
The Commissioner however, noted that a medical doctor who is one of those infected with the disease is currently undergoing treatment.
He informed that all health facility workers in the state have been alerted to create isolation units in their various hospitals – both public and private, assuring that any case beyond their abilities would be attended to by the State.
The state has commenced sensitisation on Lassa fever across all the Local Government Areas.
Authorities are urging people not to panic and remain calm.
The signs and symptoms of Lassa fever have been listed as fever, sore throat, cough, chest pain, bleeding from the nose, mouth, ears and eyes among others.
