Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) joins National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Federal Medical Centre Yenagoa, Chapter on indefinite strike which commenced earlier today.

Following emergency meeting held between JOHESU executives and the hospital management between 10am - 11am today, the executives refused to accept the offer/plea made by the medical director (Dr. Dennis Alagoa).

The medical director pleaded with the executives not to commence strike that the hospital will pay only March, 2017 salary in a week time and subsequently pay the remaining months.

The meeting ended in a deadlock which necessitated in JOHESU executives ordering its members to commence indefinite strike with immediate effect.

It should be noted that medical doctors are not among the striking health workers because they have received all their salary in full.

The ongoing strike is as a result of non payment of 2 months half salary in 2016, non payment of March cum April 2017 salary as well as several other benefits that are still in the limbo.

The striking workers have stated categorically that they will not return to work not until all salaries owed is paid in full.
