Three armed men suspected to be hired assassins on Wednesday shot the Chairman of the Ijaiye-Ojokoro, Lagos chapter of the Nigeria Medical Association, Dr. Jatto Stephen.
 
A police source at Alakuko station disclosed that Dr Stephen who is also the Chief Medical Director of D.Champion Hospital was shot on his way home by three armed men in a Toyota Corolla car at about 7:00 p.m. at Alakuko.
 
The medical doctor who was in his Lexus SUV with registration number LSR 684 DA was shot twice by the men who drove off after the shootings.
 
The Divisional Police Officer in charge of Alakuko Police Station, Chief Superintendent of Police Musa Alim confirmed the attack. He disclosed that he dispatched the anti-robbery team led by Supol Fasakin and Inspector Amao Gabriel to the scene immediately he learnt of the attack.
Further investigations revealed that Dr. Stephen was taken to a private hospital for treatment and later transferred to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja.

When Alakuko Police Station was visited on Thursday, the Lexus SUV was seen parked at the station.
 
One of the policemen who took the doctor to the hospital disclosed that the timely arrival of policemen at the scene saved the victim who, he said, had lost a lot of blood.
 
Nurses and doctors at D Champion Hospital said they received news of the attack this morning.
Meanwhile, the police have vowed to bring the attackers to book.
