Super Eagles star, Izunna Uzochukwu, who plays for Amkar Perm in the Russian League, is expected to resume training Tuesday, four weeks after suffering a hamstring injury during an international duty with Nigeria in their goalless draw against Tanzania in the AFCON qualifying series.
Uzochukwu, who was in Denmark to receive medical treatment from a specialist, said he is fully recovered and will be up for selection when Amkar face Dinamo Moscow on Saturday.
I’m back from Denmark where I went for better medical treatment,” an elated Uzochukwu said.
I will join up with the squad on Tuesday for the game against Dinamo on Saturday and my coach is happy,” he said.
Uzochukwu has made five appearances for Amkar Perm who are at 11th position on the Russian League log.
He said he was also delighted the way Super Eagles bounced back from their 2-0 loss to Congo when they beat Cameroon 3-0 in an international friendly game on Sunday.
It must have been tough for the team, but I’m happy they rallied back strongly to beat Cameroon and that’s good for us ahead of next month’s fixtures,” he said.
He urged Nigerian football fans to back the team as they head into the new era under Chief Coach Sunday Oliseh.
