The ministry of Health is warning over a new disease that has hit the country and are trying to educate Nigerians on it.

At a press conference the disease was revealed to be Stephen Johnson Syndrome, which “is an immune complex mediated hypersensitivity reaction that typically involves the skin and mucous membranes and was first described in 1922 by Albert Stevens and Frank Johnson.” had Isaac Adewole, minister of health, in attendance, the ministry disclosed that two cases of SJS had been recorded, resulting in the death of one person in 2012.

The disease was reported to have killed one person already in 2012.
Minister for health Isaac Adewole has asked Nigerians not to panic.
According reports, Boade Akinola, spokeswoman of the ministry, disclosed that a doctor rendering community service was mistakenly infected with HIV.

She narrated that the doctor had reacted negatively to the drugs given during treatment, and that led to SJS, which eventually resulted in the death of the health official.

The disease reportedly causes major damage as it causes the skin of its victim to blister and peel off this in turn, leads to more blisters inside the patient’s body.

Symptoms include watery eyes, sore throat, and fatigue. It was also reported to make it difficult for the victim to eat or even urinate.
