According to the World Health Organization (WHO), stroke is the second leading cause of death for people above the age of 60 years, and the fifth leading cause in people aged 15 to 59 years old.
Today is World Stroke Day.
Worldwide, 15 million people suffer a stroke each year, and of those nearly six million die from the stroke. It is estimated that, if current trends continue, by 2030 there will be 20 million annual stroke deaths and 70 million survivors.
The sad part of this is that stroke is to some great extent preventable and treatable.
